Can a computer algorithm understand music as well as we human musicologists can? Are they able to hear the key and chords when listening to music audio, discern the beat and rhythm, understand the mood of a song, and detect repetitions and musical phrases?

And if so, can computers exploit such an understanding of music to be creative with it?

We use advanced techniques from machine learning such as method for structured output prediction to answer these questions affirmatively.
